jesuisperdu: i12bent: Aug. 17, 1959 - 50 years ago today - saw the release of Miles Davis’ groundbreaking album, Kind of Blue… The material had been recorded a few months earlier, in sessions featuring Davis’s ensemble sextet, which included pianists Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly (on one track only), drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian “Cannonball” Adderley. Kind of Blue was the first fully realized modal jazz album. Amazing album. Going to listen to this later today and enlarge my mind with substances. Listen to this album if you haven’t yet. Get modal, will you? Soooo good is this, yes.
